Cybersecurity is not just a concern for large corporations anymore. Every business, regardless of its size, can be a target for online scams, phishing, and data breaches. In fact, small businesses are increasingly targeted due to their typically weaker cybersecurity measures compared to larger companies. For small businesses, the consequences can be particularly severe, with financial losses and damage to their reputation being difficult to overcome.
As a bookkeeper, I work closely with sensitive financial information, and I take that responsibility very seriously. Keeping client data safe isn’t just good practice – it’s essential.
To strengthen my own knowledge and ensure I’m across the latest risks, I’ve recently started the Cyber Warden Course. This training is designed to give small business owners and professionals practical tools to identify threats, build safer habits, and create a culture of cyber awareness.
The Level one course helps you safeguard your business from cyber attacks and covers topics such as passwords, multi-factor authentication, and software updates. It also explains how to identify scams and steps to take if you suspect you've been scammed.
By completing this course, I’ll be even better equipped to keep my systems secure and to support my clients in protecting their own businesses. Cyber safety is an ongoing journey, but by staying proactive we can all reduce risks and feel confident that our information is in safe hands.

If you’d like to strengthen your own cyber awareness, I encourage you to take the free Cyber Warden Course too. It’s quick, practical, and designed especially for small business owners. https://cyberwardens.com.au/courses/
